Incorporated

1789 as the town of Gouldsboro' from Goldsboro' (Gouldsboro) Plantation; spelling changed to Gouldsboro in 1887

Boundary Changes

The easterly line of Hancock County, which runs east of this town, was extended to run through Gouldsboro Bay to the ocean in 1844

Part of T7 SD was annexed in 1845

That part of Plantation No. 7 SD called West Bay Stream was annexed in 1845; part of that plantation called the Sowle Tract was annexed in 1870, and yet more land in 1905

Land was set off to form Winter Harbor in 1895
